Rangeview Speedway-–Waharoa.

Rangeview Speedway is a small clay oval track situated at Waharoa, in the centre of the North Island near Matamata, New Zealand. They hold a race meeting once every two weeks over the summer months.

Rangeview Speedway originated in 1989, commonly referred to as Waharoa Speedway from the early 2000’s. The purpose behind this spectacular track was to provide a fun, affordable and accessible environment for motorsport enthusiasts, and still to this day, Waharoa Speedway continues to follow that legacy.

Waharoa Speedway operates as a premier track under the Circle Track Racing Association (CTRA).

The Speedway functions solely from volunteers; a group of 20 committee members dedicate their time for the love of the sport, with a whopping 200 members. At Waharoa Speedway, you will see many different motorsports classes they accommodate, they range from children the age of 7 to grown adults in their 60’s behind the wheel.

Since 1989 there have been many improvements or you could say, moving with the times. From introducing technology to Foundation and facility updates. A few include a concrete track entrance, first aid room, Mylaps electronic lap scoring and referee’s box, and today updating the track wall from an Armco wall to a concrete wall.

Classes run include: Quarter Midgets, Ministocks, Flat Trackers, Sidecars, Stockcars, Saloon/Super Saloon, Streetstocks, TQ’s and Historic Midgets.

The photo below shows Auckland Vintage Speedway club member Vic Wise in his Holden powered car built in 1969. Following is Eric Beardmore in the 1954 Sherlock Holmes V8-60 midget and behind him is  Ted Roberts in his VW powered midget.
